I am installing SageTV 6.6 on my Win 7 PC (home Prem 64 bit) for first time and can not get the Pinnacle USB PCTV Remote Kit for Windows Vista to be recognized at install time or work at all to change the channel on my set top box.
I tried choosing a bunch of setup/install options to try and get the Pinnacle USB IR Receiver/blaster to work with SageTV and change my DirectTV set top box channels but could not.
My Setup:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
I have been using Windows Media Center in Win 7 with my Hauppauge PCIe 1800 Dual Tuner (it does not have a port on PCIe card for IR blaster) and Pinnacle USB PCTV Remote Kit for WIindows Vista. I have my DirectTV HD Satellite Receiver (model HR21) connected to my Hauppauge 1800 via S-Video and Composite L/R Audio inputs. The Windows 7 Media Center works fine for recording and changing channels on my DirectTV set top box with the Pinnacle USB.
I also have been using Orb on this PC and it also can record and change channels on my set top box with this Pinnacle USB. I know the ORb setup uses the Windows7 Media Center to change the channels on Set top box since it said so in setup.
I know I could order the USB-UIRT box for $58 and that should work with Pinnacle but since I will be spending (I am using 21 day eval. first) $99 for SageTV + Placeshifter bundle and another $29 for a SageTV Client. For a total of $130 I really would like to avoid having to spend another $58 (with shipping) for the USB-UIRT if I can use this Pinnacle USB IR Receiver/blaster with SageTV.
Question 1) Does anyone know how to make this Pinnacle PCTV USB device with SageTV 6.6?
Question 2) Also, I am thinking about ordering a Hauppauge 2250 (dual Tuner with built in IR blaster port) but I do not want to order this only to find out the SageTV 6.6 does not work with this IR Receiver/Blaster either. At setup install there is an option to select the built in IR ports for Hauppuage PVR-150, PVR-250 but does not say anything about Hauppague 1850 or 2250 which are newer and have built in IR ports on the PCIe cards. It worries me that the software, which you pay for (vs Free Orb) is listing such old Hauppauge cards but not new ones for this IR blaster port...
Thanks for any help
